Cody Rhodes was rumored to face The Rock at WrestleMania 41. However, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray suggested The American Nightmare could go head-to-head against another legend instead.
The Rock returned last Monday on RAW after several months of absence. However, he cut an out-of-character promo and embraced Roman Reigns and his former rival Cody Rhodes, leading many to predict that he would miss this year’s WrestleMania. John Cena also returned on the same episode to embark on his Farewell Tour. He announced that he plans to win the Men’s Royal Rumble Match to earn a World Championship shot at The Show of Shows.
On the Busted Open podcast, Bully Ray discussed whether Cena deserves a title shot at WrestleMania. He claimed the Leader of the Cenation going head-to-head against the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes would be best for business:
“Based on business, abso-freaking-lutely. See, I’m gonna answer you now from the business end of it. Because, as a fan, I love Cody and Punk. As a fan I love Cody and Cena. As a fan, I love Cody and Roman. As a fan, I love Cody and Rock. All of those matches interest me in one way, shape, or form. Put a gun to my head, I’m going Cody-Rock. Now, let’s talk, like I said, business. John Cena-Cody Rhodes business-wise? Absolutely,” Ray said.
The multi-time Tag Team Champion pointed out that people would tune in to see if the 16-time World Champion would break the record of most World Titles recognized by WWE, which he currently holds alongside Ric Flair.
“People will be tuning in. People will want to see on many different levels, whether I’m live in the arena that night, whether I’m watching on pay-per-view or Peacock or Netflix or wherever the hell this thing is carried. People will want to see if John Cena is going to ‘break the record’ that I think that Cena holds already,” he added. [1:57 – 2:53]

Will John Cena win his 17th World Title before retiring? WWE analyst gives his take
On his Cheap Heat podcast, WWE analyst Peter Rosenberg predicted that John Cena could win the Men’s Royal Rumble Match for a third time in his career. Meanwhile, he addressed whether the Leader of the Cenation could pick up another World Championship.
The 45-year-old claimed that the 16-time World Champion will surely capture his 17th title on his last run as an in-ring competitor:
“It’s the 17th. He’s getting the 17th. I mean, there’s just too much upside to him being the guy,” Rosenberg said.
It will be interesting to see if Cena will be the one to end Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship reign.
