WWE’s new era is beginning in just a couple of days, as Monday Night RAW is set to debut on Netflix. The January 6th episode might be the biggest show in the red brand’s 32-year history.
As evidenced by the increased runtime, this coming episode of RAW will be filled with star power. Some big names have been announced by WWE, while a couple of surprises could be on the way. So, let’s get into them.
Here are four huge twists that may happen on Monday Night RAW’s debut on Netflix.
#1. Becky Lynch returns to WWE & attacks both Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley
Becky Lynch hasn’t been seen in WWE since the end of May, with her contract ending shortly after that. Despite no official update on her status, The Man has been heavily promoted by Netflix. This is enough of an indication that Lynch’s return is imminent. It could come as soon as this Monday.
The Women’s World Championship match between Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley might catch Becky Lynch’s interest, especially as she was in the main event scene before going on hiatus. She may have a bone to pick specifically with Morgan, who has claimed that she “retired” Lynch.
However, instead of just attacking the champion, Big Time Becks can shock the world and lay out Ripley, too. Whether it happens during their match or after Mami wins the Women’s World Title, this would be a statement of intent from Becky Lynch. She may even turn heel as a result, potentially setting up a match against Rhea Ripley.
#2. John Cena is attacked by Bron Breakker on WWE RAW
John Cena is making his WWE return on RAW, kicking off his year-long Farewell Tour in the process. A lot of young stars will want to face the 16-time world champion, so it makes sense that one of them would interrupt him on Monday.
Bron Breakker can fill that role, trying to goad Cena into challenging for the only title he’s never won. It would be an intriguing first storyline back for the WWE legend, especially if the Intercontinental Champion beats him down like how Kevin Owens did on his main roster debut in 2015.
This can lead to a match between Breakker and John Cena for Saturday Night’s Main Event, with the younger and quicker star coming out on top. The Hollywood star could then climb his way up the ladder as WrestleMania 41 approaches. Meanwhile, the two may eventually have a rematch later in 2025, deeper into Cena’s run.
#3. Seth Rollins turns heel and defeats CM Punk
Becky Lynch might not be the only one from her household to turn heel on RAW’s Netflix debut. If he’s given the opportunity, Seth Rollins could do so to defeat CM Punk. His hatred for The Second City Saint could end up consuming him, forcing a new approach.
The fans are also on Punk’s side, which may contribute to The Visionary’s transition into the dark side. Following his feud with The Best in the World, a heel Rollins can team up with Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens against the OG Bloodline. After all, he hates Roman Reigns as much as CM Punk.
4. Paul Heyman puts the Ula Fala around The Rock’s neck
The Tribal Combat Match between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa could have a massive effect on the rest of WWE in 2025. If The OTC regains the Ula Fala, he will become as powerful as ever. But what if Paul Heyman refuses to let that be the case?
Even if Reigns wins, The Wiseman could betray him in favor of the “real” Tribal Chief. Cue The Final Boss’ music. The Rock has subtly hinted at a return on the RAW Netflix premiere, which could mean he finally confronts his cousin.
The entire ordeal may end up leading to The Rock facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 41, with Paul Heyman back as a heel. WWE cannot book a bigger match than this.
