CM Punk is preparing for a blockbuster match against Seth Rollins on the RAW premiere on Netflix this Monday, January 6. The two superstars had had a series of intense face-offs over the past few weeks and are now set to collide in a match 10 years in the making.
Even though this is just the first part of the rivalry between Punk and Seth Rollins, a loss could change the direction for both superstars. For The Visionary, a defeat on Monday could lead to a heel turn, which the former World Heavyweight Champion has been teasing for weeks.
If that ensues, Seth Rollins could align with two other top heels in WWE, Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens, and create a new faction. If the WWE creative team goes that way, there are options for several new angles, involving the likes of Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, The Usos, and Sami Zayn, as The Scottish Warrior and KO have unfinished business with all five of them.
The new faction could target The OTC and The OG Bloodline, while Rollins and KO would continue their mega-feud with Punk and Rhodes, respectively.
Given the caliber of the three superstars, the creative team could attempt to recreate something similar to the legendary nWo, which consisted of Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash.
Seth Rollins expects a ‘fight’ vs. CM Punk on the RAW premiere on Netflix
The match between Seth Rollins and CM Punk is expected to main event the RAW premiere on Netflix, which is expected to be a blockbuster show, featuring a Tribal Combat bout match between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa and a match between Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship.
Speaking to WWE reporter Jackie Redmond, The Visionary stated that he expected a ‘fight’ against The Best in the World this Monday.
“It’s gonna be a fight. There’s no question about it. It’s gonna be a fight. I mean, this is the biggest fight in our sport right now. This is the biggest fight in our industry… This is my WrestleMania, and I need it now after Survivor Series this year and I saw him hand in hand with Roman Reigns, that was like enough for me. Enough is enough,” Seth Rollins said. [H/T – 411Mania]
While their rivalry is far from over, it will be interesting to see what direction the two will follow after Monday’s episode, as their feud is expected to extend through WrestleMania 41.
