WWE had an epic 2024 and numerous superstars had what was arguably the best or most successful year of their career. For example, Liv Morgan rose to the top of the women’s division, Gunther is a main event talent, and Cody Rhodes became the true face of the company.
While most of those talents became World Champions or rose to the main event for the first time, a more established star also had the best year of his career in 2024. Drew McIntyre had an incredible 12 months.
The Scottish Psychopath turned heel and went on to completely reinvent his character. It has worked out, as he has been extremely entertaining, won a World Title, and had the feud of the year with CM Punk.
While 2024 was incredible for the Scottish star, 2025 could be even bigger. This article will look at a handful of predictions for the jacked performer in the next year, which includes retiring a long-time friend and winning a coveted World Title.
Below are four predictions for Drew McIntyre in WWE in 2025:
#4. He will officially retire Wade Barrett in a match at WrestleMania 41
Wade Barrett is an inactive pro wrestler who focuses on commentary duties in WWE. He is currently on Monday Night RAW alongside Joe Tessitore, but that will likely change in the new year.
Drew McIntyre and the man formerly known as Bad News Barrett are long-time friends. They came up through the United Kingdom indie circuit together before joining WWE. To this very day, they remain close, despite some on-air tension earlier this year.
That tension could bubble up to one last match for Wade. We predict that Barrett will come out of retirement for an official retirement match with Drew at WrestleMania. McIntyre will win, but Barrett will get one last moment in the sun.
#3. Drew McIntyre will dethrone Cody Rhodes of the Undisputed WWE Title
Cody Rhodes is on top of the world. He is the Undisputed WWE Champion and has been since April. Since dethroning Roman Reigns to win the belt, Rhodes has defeated the likes of Kevin Owens, Solo SIkoa, AJ Styles, and more to retain his belt.
There is a very real chance that Cody will remain the Undisputed WWE Champion throughout much of the year, but eventually, he will have to lose the belt. In what could be a shocking move, he might lose it to Drew McIntyre.
The Scottish Psychopath is on the run of a lifetime. A feud with Cody Rhodes would take him to even greater heights. Winning the World Title from The American Nightmare would then elevate Drew to a whole new level.
#2. He will finally defeat Roman Reigns
Cody Rhodes isn’t the only top babyface Drew McIntyre will likely feud with in 2025. In fact, he has already been teasing a blockbuster showdown with the now-legendary Roman Reigns.
The former Undisputed WWE Champion is a part-time star, but when he is around, people notice. The OTC has a huge match scheduled with Solo Sikoa on the RAW Netflix Premiere on January 6th, but after that, his future plans seem murky. A feud with Drew McIntyre may very well be in the cards.
Not only will Drew and Roman likely feud, but McIntyre will finally defeat The Original Tribal Chief. He was never able to stop Reigns thanks to assistance from The Bloodline, but now that may not be an issue. Plus, Drew may have some extra help.
#1. McIntyre will form an alliance with Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins
In 2025, Drew McIntyre could form an official alliance with Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins. Both WWE Superstars absolutely hate Roman Reigns and The Bloodline, just like Drew. They also have issues with CM Punk, just like McIntyre.
An interesting RAW segment already teased this possibly happening. Drew and Seth spoke backstage and McIntyre tried to forge an alliance. While WWE hasn’t pulled the trigger on the two seeing eye-to-eye yet, come 2025, it will happen. Kevin, Seth, and Drew will unite over common enemies.
Who knows, this trio could even be officially known as The Shield 2.0. This would be extremely insulting to Roman Reigns, the likely target of their union. These mind games would make for an extremely interesting angle. Could The Shield 2.0. and The O.G. Bloodline clash? If Drew is part of a new version with Seth and Kevin, it is certainly possible.
