The WWE Universe was initially shocked when Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods turned on Big E on the December 2, 2024, edition of RAW. However, that shock turned to anger for many, and now there’s a curiosity among fans on why The New Day finally turned heel. A cryptic explanation by a former champion has been revealed to close out the year.
Xavier Woods and Kofi ruined The New Day’s 10th anniversary celebration by turning on an injured Big E, essentially booting him from the group and making their first full-fledged heel turn in almost nine years. Since then, Kingston and Woods have picked up intense heat from fans, their colleagues in the locker room, and even Kofi’s mother.
The New Day has ranted a lot while tossing around excuses and accusations since their heel turn. While nothing concrete has been established on the surprise turn, Woods took to X/Twitter today to issue a cryptic update on why he and Kofi have stunned WWE.
“We are not in a fight of good verses evil. The real conflict is between lies and the truth,” Xavier Woods wrote.
It remains to be seen what these lies and truths consist of, who is spreading them, and how The New Day plans to expose them. However, the RAW Netflix era and WrestleMania 41 Season are shaping up to be very interesting for WWE’s third Tag Team Triple Crown Champions.
CM Punk takes out The New Day for Big E at WWE event
The New Day as a three-man faction is no more. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods turned on Big E earlier this month, essentially kicking the injured Superstar out of the group.
CM Punk and Rey Mysterio are among the WWE stars who have publicly knocked Kingston and Woods out for how they treated Big E. At Saturday’s non-televised live event in Baltimore, Punk and Rey defeated Kingston and Woods in tag team action.
As seen below, Punk ran wild on the heel duo and gave a nod to The Ultimate Warrior, all in the name of Big E.
Thursday’s live event in New York City at Madison Square Garden saw Woods defeat Otis in singles action. The next night in Pittsburgh, Bron Breakker retained the Intercontinental Championship over Kofi and Otis in a Triple Threat match. Kofi also defeated The Alpha Academy’s heavyweight star in singles action on Sunday in Chicago.
