After Triple H was the first one out on the RAW on Netflix Premiere, The Rock’s music was officially the first to hit. During the incredible opening promo on the premiere episode, a new nickname was unveiled.
There was speculation about whether The Rock would appear on the RAW premiere on Netflix. Many expected it, but it wasn’t announced until a few days prior—perhaps because there was no need to. The Final Boss announced it and paid tribute to his Samoan roots.
He wasn’t so much The Final Boss that he was in the build-up to WrestleMania 40. He was more of himself out of character and adopted a new nickname – The High Chief Seiuli. As you might know, his grandfather is the legendary “High Chief” Peter Maivia.
It was a tribute to his legendary Samoan family heritage. He credited High Chief Malietoa Tanumafili II for giving him this title, as he vowed to carry the Samoan culture with him wherever he went.
Interestingly enough, nothing was done to plant the seed for a possible WrestleMania match. This has led to speculation that The Rock won’t be working in Las Vegas this April.
It was more of an introduction to WWE for mainstream audiences than to further a storyline.
