WWE and AEW currently have some of the biggest stars in the pro wrestling industry on their rosters. In a recent conversation, Hall of Famer Teddy Long was asked to pick six stars to recruit for his dream promotion, to which he had an interesting response.
Although the rival companies’ rosters focus on different ideals, they have impressive names. The Stamford-based promotion boasts powerhouses like Drew McIntyre and Bronson Reed, while Tony Khan’s roster has stellar high-fliers like Will Ospreay and Ricochet. Teddy Long, however, only wants WWE stars on his roster.
Speaking on Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, Teddy was asked to name his six picks.
“I’d pick Sami Zayn. I’d pick LA Knight, Gunther, certainly CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, and The Viking Raiders. Those guys, but that’s a tag team, it’s not a single, but yeah,” Long responded. [7:20 onwards]
Veteran journalist Bill Apter also shared his thoughts, picking names from both companies:
“Drew McIntyre, Jon Moxley, Rey Mysterio, Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, Dominik Mysterio.” [6:49 onwards]
The WWE Hall of Famer also commented on reports of a new belt
Triple H is rumored to be planning to introduce a new belt in the Bloodline story, which will be called the Tribal Chief Title. According to Teddy Long, it serves a major marketing purpose.
Speaking on the same episode of Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Time Machine, the Hall of Famer stated:
“Well, I just think it’s a good marketing scheme. That’s exactly what I think it is. And I’ll tell you that build is gonna be so beautiful, they are gonna sell so many of them it’s gonna be unbelievable… It’s something that nobody has ever seen before, Long said.” [5:05 onwards]
As of now, only time will tell how WWE plans to manage the situation in the coming weeks.
