A female SmackDown Superstar has teased facing Michael Cole in the ring. Randy Orton’s status for RAW on Netflix premiere has also been revealed. And last but not least, is Triple H’s position in serious jeopardy?
Continue reading as we dive into the top news and rumors of the day:
#1. LA Knight provides an unfortunate update
During the Holiday Tour Live Event in Baltimore last night, LA Knight revealed that he was involved in a “little fender bender” on his way to the arena. Fortunately, he was unharmed and was able to compete in his scheduled match.
The Megastar shared the whole incident before his match against Santas Escobar:
“It wasn’t an easy road down here. I’ll tell you why. Earlier today, I was driving high 70. Got a little fender bender. Somebody decided to bang it into my car.”
Knight went on to explain that he called the rental company to inform them about the incident and was asked if he could stay at the scene.
However, the 42-year-old SmackDown Superstar told them he needed to get to CFG Bank Arena so that he could stomp down “some dummy,” referring to Santos Escobar. Knight went on to defeat the leader of Legado Del Fantasma that night.
#2. Kevin Owens almost got fired from WWE on SmackDown
On this week’s episode of SmackDown, Nick Aldis gave Kevin Owens an ultimatum, asking the Canadian wrestler to relinquish the Winged Eagle World Belt before the end of the night or he will face severe consequences.
Later on in the show, Kevin Owens refused to hand over the title and used it as a bargaining chip to get a rematch with Cody Rhodes.
Nick Aldis refused to grant him his rematch and threatened to fire Kevin Owens. The SmackDown General manager said if The Prizefighter didn’t return the Winged Eagle belt, he would never step foot in a WWE ring again.
The American Nightmare would then return for the first time since being taken out at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Cody Rhodes proposed a Ladder Match for both the Undisputed WWE Championship and the Winged Eagle belt at Royal Rumble.
Nick Aldis hesitated at first but made the match between the two men official for the upcoming premium live event. In the closing segment, Owens offered Rhodes a handshake, but the babyface refused to shake it.
Kevin Owens shoved Nick Aldis into Cody Rhodes and then stomped on his neck before retreating. It will be interesting to see if the Canadian wrestler will face repercussions for paying hands on the SmackDown General Manager.
#3. Is Bayley interested in an intergender match?
Bayley has been engaged in hilarious banter with SmackDown commenter Michael Cole since the ThunderDome era. The Role Model has previously addressed the possibility of getting in the ring with Cole at WrestleMania.
Earlier today, Bayley addressed a fan asking for Michael Cole vs. Chelsea Green, with Bayley as a special Guest referee at WrestleMania. The former Women’s Champion responded by saying she wants to face Michael Cole first before everyone else.
“I don’t care what anyone says, I get Cole first,” wrote Bayley.
Michael Cole hasn’t laced up his boots since the July 9, 2012, episode of Monday Night RAW. In his last match, he lost to WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler.
#4. Will Randy Orton be at the premiere episode of RAW on Netflix
Randy Orton was written off TV on the November 8 edition of SmackDown. That night, he took a devastating Piledriver from Kevin Owens that put him out of commission for the foreseeable future.
Cody Rhodes came back before his mentor, which is surprising since both men took the same banned move. The Apex Predator was said to be dealing with cervical cord neurapraxia. With the premiere episode of RAW on Netflix right around the corner, fans have been asking about The Legend Killer’s status.
Sportskeeda Wrestling’s own Dr. Chris Featherstone recently learned that Randy Orton is not scheduled to be on the January 6 show.
#5. Triple H to have a new boss in 2025?
Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Tommy Dreamer entertained the thought of The Rock coming back to misuse his power and assert authority over his former rival and WWE CCO Triple H:
“Triple H, what if Rock straight up tells him, like, ‘Hey, you pretty much answer to me. You know, for the first time you have a boss,’ and abuse that with Triple H where everybody could rally behind what at the end of the day is what we always talk about, more so the WWE, where you get people chanting for the WWE,” Dreamer said.
The ECW legend added:
“The power struggle between The Rock and Triple H could be amazing because The Rock could always look at him and go, ‘You’re not talking to your father-in-law, you’re talking to your boss.'”
The Final Boss’ WrestleMania 41 status is in jeopardy due to his Hollywood commitments. As per reports, he is slated to challenge Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
